If an employer issues two separate Forms W-2: Wage and Tax Statement, and both contain state-specific information from different states, but only one contains federal information, you can combine the two sets of state information when you enter it into TaxAct. Doing so allows you to file the return electronically, and ensures that all state information from both Forms W-2 is reported on the return.
When entering information from multiple W-2s into TaxAct, the first three screens you encounter ask you to enter federal information from the form that contains it.
On the Enter your state income and taxes screen, you may enter the state information from both Forms W-2. Each state's information should go on its own line.
Alternatively, you may enter two separate W-2s in the TaxAct program, but would then have to paper-file the return.
