Form 1040 - Unemployment Compensation

Unemployment compensation is entered in the Other Income section of the Federal Quick Q&A Topics menu. It is reported on Line 7 of Schedule 1 (Form 1040) Additional Income and Adjustments to Income.

To enter or review your unemployment compensation information in the TaxAct program:

  1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Federal (on smaller devices, click in the top left corner of your screen, then click Federal).
  2. Click the Other Income dropdown, then click Unemployment compensation.
  3. Click + Add Form 1099-G Unemployment to create a new copy of the form or click Edit to edit a form already created (desktop program: click Review instead of Edit).
  4. Continue with the interview process to enter your information.
