Error: "Not a Valid Win32 Application" When Installing TaxAct

If you downloaded the TaxAct program but see a "Not a valid Win32 application" error when trying to run the installer ([filename].exe), it’s likely that the file became corrupted during download.

Step 1: Delete the Corrupted File

  1. Go to your Downloads folder and delete the TaxAct installer file.

Step 2: Try One of the Following Troubleshooting Options

  • Re-download the file from the TaxAct website. The new file may download correctly.
  • Use a different web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge) to access the TaxAct website and try downloading again.
  • Change your browser settings to choose the file’s download location manually, which may help prevent corruption.
  • Check your internet connection to ensure its stable during the download process.
