IP PIN Received for Dependent

If your dependent received an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN), you will need to enter this PIN on your tax return.

To enter your dependent's IP PIN:

  1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Federal. On smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then click Federal.
  2. Click Miscellaneous Topics in the Federal Quick Q&A Topics menu to expand, then click Identity Protection PIN.
  3. Answer the question as to whether you received an Identify Protection PIN. If yes, enter your own IP PIN.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Answer Yes to the question Did any of your dependents receive an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) from the IRS? 
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Click Edit
  8. Enter the Dependent's IP PIN, then click Continue.
  9. Repeat for other dependents as needed, then click Continue.
