Security Software Interference With Desktop Software
1

Interference from a security software is the most likely cause of peculiar behavior after TaxAct updates or installations. Security software programs may incorrectly interpret modification of the TaxAct program's main .exe file as malicious behavior, and quarantine program files. If program files are removed or otherwise not accessible, the TaxAct program will not function as expected. File creation, changes, and e-filing may be affected.

If your TaxAct program has stopped working after an update, you should configure your security software program to allow TaxAct files. You may need to add an exclusion, or enable whitelisting settings to trust the TaxAct software to run. In some cases you may need to check the quarantine contents to restore a TaxAct installation or executable file.
