If you qualify, there are a few points worth noting.
For TaxAct, in order to qualify for the FREE Federal e-file with the IRS Free File program you must first go to the IRS website (or participating State site) and select the company and program of your choice. Then complete the registration process. This will allow you to qualify as a registered FFA user and receive the FREE Federal e-filing through TaxAct.

When choosing to use TaxAct, you will navigate away from the IRS site. You will then click on the Start Your Free Return button and create a TaxAct account. If you have an existing TaxAct username and password, simply choose the Sign in link at the top right of the page.
If you do not qualify for free filing through TaxAct, either return to the IRS Free File page and choose a different vendor that has an offer you may qualify for, or see if one of the other TaxAct products will work for you on https://www.taxact.com/.
