Multiple Returns - Accessing the Wrong One
1

There are a couple reasons why the information you entered into your tax return is no longer visible.

  1. Information was entered, then the return was imported from the prior year. This overrides any information for the current year. This means current year information would need to be entered again.
  2. More than one return was created. You can delete one of the returns to ensure you only have one return with the proper information on it. If you want to keep both returns, you can change their descriptions so that you can tell them apart:

  • Sign in to your TaxAct Account online, then click My Tax Returns.
  • Click the Actions dropdown, then click Edit Return Description.
  • In the pop-up that appears, type in the field to edit the description, then click Update.
  • The description of your returns is on the left of the screen, and that is where you will see your edited description.

  • For more information about imported returns, go to our Import Last Year's Return FAQ.

If you need to delete a return, go to our Delete TaxAct Online Return FAQ (if you already filed the return, it is now on record and cannot be deleted.).

If you need help opening your returns, go to our Access Current or Prior Year Return FAQ.
