Multiple Returns - Accessing the Wrong One
1

If you entered information on your tax return, but it isn't showing up now, you might have entered information and then imported your prior year return, or you have created more than one return.  Importing a prior year return overrides any information you entered before importing.  If you have created more than one return by accident, you can delete one.

For more information about imported returns, go to our Import Last Year's Return FAQ.

If you need to delete a return, go to our Delete TaxAct Online Return FAQ (if you already filed the return, it is now on record and cannot be deleted.).

If you need help opening your returns, go to our Access Current or Prior Year Return FAQ.

If you want to keep both returns, you can change their descriptions so that you can tell them apart:

  1. Sign in to your TaxAct Account online, then click My Tax Returns.
  2. Click the Actions dropdown, then click Edit Return Description.
  3. In the pop-up that appears, type in the field to edit the description, then click Update.
  4. The description of your returns is on the left of the screen, and that is where you will see your edited description.
