Recover Your Individual TaxAct Account - Does Not Apply to TaxAct Business Or TaxAct Professionals

To recover your TaxAct account (available only for users of our 1040 Online products):


  1. Go to www.taxact.com and click Sign In.
  2. On the Sign In screen, click Forgot username or the password link
  3. Enter your phone number, email, or username. If your username is an email address, check the I use my email address as my username box.
  4. Click Next.
  5. When you're asked to input a code, click Verify Your Identity.
  6. Fill out the questionnaire with your current contact information.
  7. Click Next, then follow the instructions to verify your identity.
If you need to change your email address or phone number, you may do so at this point.
  1. Make any necessary changes to your email address and/or phone number.
  2. When you receive a verification code to the email address or phone number you've just changed, follow the instructions to verify your device.
  3. Once you enter the code, you'll be prompted to change your password.
  4. Once you change your password, you'll be asked to log in with the new password.
