Once you have completed the Federal Q&A, the next step is to complete the State Q&A. You only need to answer a few state-specific questions for your state return.

TaxAct^® State Editions become available in January each year. Go to our State Program Release Dates FAQ for anticipated release dates.

To prepare your State Return:

1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click State, then click Add State (on smaller devices, click in the top left corner of your screen, then click State).
2. Click the dropdown below State return for, then click your state (you might need to scroll down the list).
3. Continue with the interview process to enter your information.

To prepare multiple state returns, repeat the steps to select another state from the drop-down, and continue with the interview process.
