Form 1098-T - Entering in Program

Per IRS Publication 970 Tax Benefits for Education, page 11: "Qualified education expenses paid by a dependent you claim on your tax return, or by a third party for that dependent, are considered paid by you". The educational institution sends a Form 1098-T Tuition Statement to the student to report the expenses. Start the Student Information Worksheet in your TaxAct return, and report Form 1098-T (if you need help accessing the Student Information Worksheet, go to our Student Worksheet Entries FAQ):

  1. From within your Student Information Worksheet, continue with the interview process until you reach the screen titled Student Information - Educational Institution.
  2. Below Did [student name] receive Form 1098-T from this school for 2023?, click the circle next to Yes.
  3. On the screen titled Tuition Statement- Summary click Edit next to the student's name
  4. On the screen titled Tuition Statement - Information, enter your 1098-T information.
