The below guarantees do not apply to TaxAct Professional products and services. Current and former employees of TaxAct or any other company offering tax return preparation products are excluded from these guarantees.

100% Accuracy Guarantee
Applies to TaxAct Business products only.
Rest assured — our calculations are correct. If you are assessed a penalty from the IRS or state taxing authority due to a calculation error in a TaxAct product, we'll pay the penalty and interest.
To make a claim under this guarantee, you must notify us in writing within 30 days of the IRS or state imposing a penalty. This Guarantee does not apply (i) when using the applicable TaxAct product or service to prepare tax returns for others or (iii) if you fail to enter all required information accurately.

HOW TO SUBMIT A CLAIM100% Expert Accuracy Guarantee (Applies to Xpert Assist® Premium services only)
100% Expert Accuracy Guarantee covers penalties and interest resulting from a TaxAct Expert’s calculation error. Any actual difference between final tax liability and amounts previously paid remains the taxpayer’s responsibility.
If you pay a federal or state penalty and/or interest solely because of an error the TaxAct Expert made while preparing your return, or on a form signed by the TaxAct Expert, and not as a result of, among other things, your failure to provide all relevant information accurately, willful or fraudulent omission or inclusion of information for your tax return, misrepresentation of your tax information, or failure to file your tax return on time or to take other action requested by the TaxAct Expert, then TaxAct will pay you the amount of the federal or state penalty and/or interest paid by you to the federal or state government. For the purpose of clarity, “errors” of the TaxAct Expert shall not include reasonable reporting positions taken by the TaxAct Expert, even if the federal, state, or local taxing authority later questions such position. If applicable, at TaxAct’s sole discretion, we may also provide you with an amended tax return for no additional fee. You are responsible for keeping TaxAct apprised promptly of any change in your email address, mailing address and/or phone number so that you can be notified of updates or corrections. You are also responsible for paying any tax liability you still may owe and providing any other information TaxAct reasonably requests to validate your claim, within a timely manner but no more than 60 days after we request such information.
If you believe such an error occurred, you must notify TaxAct as soon as you learn of the mistake or within 30 days from the date you receive a letter from the IRS or state taxing authority (and in no event later than 30 days after the penalty or interest is assessed and within the applicable federal and/or state tax filing statute of limitation). TaxAct will then contact you promptly to resolve the issue. To validate the claim, TaxAct may require a copy of the federal/state notice, and any other documents that support the information on your tax return. HOW TO SUBMIT A CLAIMMoney-Back Guarantee
Applies to TaxAct Download products only.
If you purchased a TaxAct Download product and you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can request a full refund within 30 days of receipt to get your money back. No questions asked! The Money-Back Guarantee does not apply after you use the TaxAct software to print or e-file a return and that return is accepted by the IRS or state taxing agency. To request a refund of your product fee(s), call (319) 373.3600 and provide your name, zip code, email address on account, TaxAct username, Order ID, and product you would like refunded.
